Language Link
The Language Link package enables teachers and teaching assistants to screen for receptive language difficulties at school entry and implement support for children with straightforward language delays.
The package offers a receptive language screening assessment with supporting resources and classroom strategies. Language Link is not intended as a substitute for exisiting speech and language therapy services or language work in the classroom.
It is designed to work alongside them to provide targetted help for children with difficulty understanding language.

Language Link in the News
Language Link featured in the Times Educational Supplement recently. You can read the articles on the TES web site,
“Observation or Technology - What is best for under 5s?”
and “Light touch scheme that identifies needs early ”
At Speech Link Multimedia Ltd we welcome the debate but feel that technology and observation do not have to be in opposition to each other.
We believe that it is important that strategies follow the needs of the children and if these needs can be ascertained through observation then that is good. Most speech and language therapists do not believe
that a reliable measure of the understanding of language can be gained from observation alone.
Given the above and the importance of the understanding of language in the classroom it follows that further steps need to be taken to gauge a child’s level of understanding. Any such measurement should
as far as possible be fun and be seen as part of the everyday activities of the classroom. This is where technology can help by augmenting observation and facilitating a “light touch”
way of checking a child’s understanding of language. (see The Bercow Report section 2.8 p26)
